We are always on the look out for enthusiastic, friendly volunteers with a passion for theatre and/or Spanish language and culture. We offer volunteer positions in Front of House, in the box office, in the bar/café and for distributing flyers. This is a great opportunity to gain some experience working in the arts, to meet new people and to of course see some free theatre!

The Autumn/Winter Season
The Cervantes Theatre Autumn season is an exciting mix of full productions, dramatized readings and dance featuring an adaption of Cervantes, the best in new writing from Spain and – the flagship – production of the season, the Lorca masterpiece House of Bernarda Alba.
The Season timetable is as follows
30th August – 9th September – The Dark Stone, sold out when performed earlier this year returns for a full run.
14th – 16th September – From La Unión to Union Street: Flamenco Festival.
18th September to 14th October – New Spanish Playwriting
1st October – 1 day Only. Through and Out
23th October – 2 Dec – The House of Bernarda Alba by Federico García Lorca
6th Dec – 30th Dec – The judge of the Divorces… y otros
Who we are looking for
The season has 132 performances and we are looking for volunteers for front of house from an hour before each performance to an hour afterwards, (between 3 and 4 hours) depending on the performance, plus helping at the bar during intervals. We are looking for people to commit to cover a minimum of 10 performances.
Also, we are looking for volunteers for distributing flyers of our Autumn/Winter Season programme. This would be a great opportunity to enhance the link between the theatre and the local area. The volunteer would need to cover at least 30 hours across the season to benefit from the perks.
In exchange we offer
- Our heartfelt thanks. As a charity we could not deliver this program of activity without the help of volunteers
- 2 tickets for either the festival or Bernarda Alba
- A ticket to The Judge of the divorces
- An invitation to attend rehearsals of any of the works taking place in the theatre
- ‘Friend’ membership during your period of volunteering and for a year afterwards
If your motivation for volunteering is to have a career/get involved in the theatre either on the creative side or the business side, you will also have the opportunity to talk to practitioners. This will not be a formal process, but we are a small theatre operated by an extremely approachable and friendly set of people. We are enthusiastic champions of enabling opportunities for people who are involved with us.
Please email us on firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you could include a contact phone number (and/or) the information below that would be helpful.
Information we will need about you
There is some information that we will need about you so that we can ensure that the theatre has in place volunteers for the whole season and so that you can get the best out of your volunteering experience.
From our point of view we need to know how many dates you can commit to, your preferred working pattern (e.g “I’d rather do a whole week” or ‘I can commit to every Wednesday”) plus dates you definitely can’t do (e.g. holiday dates , matinees etc).
The make-up of our audience is also a little different to other theatres. As we do Spanish speaking performances, we occasionally have people attending whose English is poor, so for some of the performances we need at least one front of house person with a good level of Spanish. We also have a number of younger members of the audience, so if you have been DBS checked, let us know
From your point of view, if you have specific goals in volunteering, we would be interested to hear about them so that we can incorporate them into our thinking.
