UNA NIÑA ES UNA COSA A MEDIO FORMAR

From her birth and through childhood and adolescence, a girl tries to shape her identity in the violent world that surrounds her. A throbbing story that will take the protagonist, a body without a name, to experience her own sexuality as a tool of self-destruction that blurs the boundaries between body, pleasure, and pain. An experimental language that proposes an innovative approach to the dramatic text through its fierce and bare mechanism.

A piece based on the homonymous novel by Eimear McBride, A Girl is a Half-formed Thing, hailed with prestigious awards including the Baileys Women’s Prize for Fiction and recently published in Spain with Editorial Impedimenta.

This theatrical version – its first translation into Spanish – premiered in 2019 at the Rufino Tamayo Museum of Contemporary Art in Mexico City where it was nominated for Best Monologue by the Mexican Association of Theatre Critics and Journalists. Its second season in Mexico City took place in August 2022 at the theatre El Milagro. In Spain, it was presented in Barcelona, at Sala Beckett in May 2021 as part of the cycle #jotambé on gender violence and power structures, and in March 2023 as part of the cycle on family structures and identity.
