Masterclasses at the Cervantes Theatre
The aim of the masterclasses is to develop a deep understanding of the themes of the particular subject area. They are suitable for any group of people with a level of Spanish of B2 or above or studying for A-level or IB exams. Key features of the masterclasses are:
- The whole masterclass is carried out in Spanish.
- Masterlasses mix video sessions / sessions with actors / interactive Q & A sessions and discussion.
- Where video is used it will be subtitled in Spanish to aid clear comprehension.
- Sessions will take place at the Cervantes Theatre, which is an intimate auditorium ideal for promoting engagement and understanding .


La Casa de Bernarda Alba – 2.5 hrs/4.5 hrs
Masterclass Consists of 2 actors, 1 facilitator
Programme
Introduction facilitator + Introductory Video (15min)

Full screening of La Casa de Bernarda Alba in Spanish with Spanish subtitles.
(120 mins)
Selection of Scenes (actresses will perform key scenes in the play) plus Analysis/Discussion (75min)
Analysis and Discussion will include

Main Characters
Images
Symbols
Participation reading a scene with some actresses (15 min – 2 volunteer pupils)
Q&A with the facilitator and actresses (30min)
Wrap-up / Course Questionnaire (5 mins)


Lorca – 2.5 hrs/4.5 hrs
Masterclass Consists of 2 actors, 1 facilitator

(Please note that this can be turned into a 4.5 hour masterclass by adding a full screening of La Casa de Bernarda Alba. Themes and discussion will continue to be illustrated with reference to multiple Lorca works)
